Brett Hundley, Green Bay Packers

Passing NEP per drop back: -0.33

The MVP award traditionally goes to a player who enjoyed a dominant season statistically. You could make a case that a player’s true value is only evident when that player is missing, though. The Green Bay Packers would probably agree with this, as they found out once again just how valuable Aaron Rodgers is during his extended absences last year.

Brett Hundley, inexperienced in live reps but a veteran of the Packers' system, finds himself on this unfortunate list. Of the 29 quarterbacks with at least 300 drop backs, only one player had a lower Passing NEP per drop back than Hundley’s -0.14. He found the red zone an even trickier place to play than the other 80 yards of the field based off his -0.33 Passing NEP per drop back.

Hundley attempted only 30 red zone passes, the very borderline of this sample size. These passes brought him 4 touchdowns, (last among 31 qualified players), while only Marcus Mariota had a worse touchdown rate than Hundley’s 13.33%, while his 3 red-zone interceptions were tied for second-most.
