Fantasy Football: Ranking Each NFL Team's Number-Two Receiver
Ranking 6-10: Slots and Lid-Lifters
10) Will Fuller - Houston Texans
Average Draft Position | 71.5 |
ADP Position Rank | 31 |
Projected REC - YDS - TDS | 48 - 668 - 5.7 |
Will Fuller is a great way to buy into the touchdown upside of Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans' offense without spending a first-round pick on DeAndre Hopkins or an early rounder on the quarterback himself. Fuller is a big-play touchdown scorer in a big-play, high-scoring offense. While he currently lacks the weekly floor to offer stability, Fuller is a great lower-cost option in this offense and can win weeks with a single play. Fuller is a particularly tremendous play in best-ball formats.
9) Sammy Watkins - Kansas City Chiefs
Average Draft Position | 62.0 |
ADP Position Rank | 27 |
Projected REC - YDS - TDS | 50 - 754 - 5.8 |
Do you remember that Sammy Watkins scored eight touchdowns last year? Me neither, but he did. Watkins has consistently been one of the best touchdown scorers in the NFL, but he has volume concerns in Kansas City. Battling for targets with Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Kareem Hunt, Watkins has volume and injury concerns. However, he also has tremendous upside in what should be a potent KC offense. Similar in many ways to Hill, Watkins will get his yards in chunks. The only question is whether he will see a sustainable target volume. His recent contract suggests that he will.
8) Jarvis Landry - Cleveland Browns
Average Draft Position | 58.2 |
ADP Position Rank | 26 |
Projected REC - YDS - TDS | 81 - 890 - 4.7 |
I think it is a true toss-up between Jarvis Landry and Josh Gordon as to who will get the lion's share of targets in the Cleveland Browns' offense. We've seen Landry be a target hog, and we know the Browns love the dynamic option that Gordon brings. However, the two of them may each eclipse 20% of the team's targets, which would provide a safe floor for Landry as well as plenty of upside. The Browns may struggle to score a lot of touchdowns, but Landry is a solid bet for a yardage and reception floor play.
7) Jordy Nelson - Oakland Raiders
Average Draft Position | 98.7 |
ADP Position Rank | 40 |
Projected REC - YDS - TDS | 63 - 902 - 6.2 |
Jordy Nelson will open the season in a different colored jersey for the first time in a decade. Unfortunately, he will not have Aaron Rodgers firing missiles at him. Instead, Jon Gruden and the new Oakland Raiders' regime will attempt to magnify Nelson's skillset. Like Watkins, Nelson has consistently been an elite touchdown scorer. He excels in an area of the field in which stud Amari Cooper has struggled -- the red zone. There is a defined role on this team for Nelson, and he should see a strong workload as long as he can stay healthy.
6) Randall Cobb - Green Bay Packers
Average Draft Position | 86.8 |
ADP Position Rank | 35 |
Projected REC - YDS - TDS | 73 - 871 - 6.7 |
With the aforementioned Nelson now in silver and black, Randall Cobb returns to number-two status in Green Bay. This time, he is behind Davante Adams. The Packers' coaching staff has opted to leave Ty Montgomery in the running back room and has signed Jimmy Graham at tight end. So, 2018 figures to be a high-target year for Cobb. Graham will likely do more damage in the red zone than he has in recent years, and there is no alarming pressure from a number-three receiver. Cobb's seemingly guaranteed volume in an elite offense spells the exact type of opportunity you should want in a number-two receiver.
