Fantasy Football: 5 Bounce-Back Candidates for 2018

Following up some disappointing 2017 campaigns, these players are primed for more success as the 2018 season gets underway.

There can be any number of reasons for a player failing to meet his expectations over the course of a season. Injury is probably the most obvious among them, but it often comes down to the impact of injuries to those players around that player.

Sometimes, you would think that NFL stood for "Not For Long" in that there is almost always hope that a down season can end up just being a blip on the radar rather than an enduring trend. Time and time again, we have seen players return relevance on the field and in the fantasy football realm.

For this season, these five players look primed to make their forgettable 2017 seasons a thing of the past.

Throughout this piece, we'll reference our in-house Net Expected Points (NEP) metric, which tracks the efficiency of both teams and players, with the team side being adjusted for strength of opponent. A three-yard reception on 3rd-and-2 is wildly different than a three-yard reception on 3rd-and-4, and NEP helps account for that by tracking the expected points players add to their teams' total over the course of a season. You can learn more about NEP in our glossary.

Without further ado, let's get to the bounce-back candidates.
