Kerryon Johnson Will Be the Second-Best Rookie Running Back

Why This Is Bold: Johnson's average draft position is rising a bit, but there's still plenty of competition for who the best rookie running back will be behind Saquon Barkley this year.

Why This Will Happen: It's hard to give Johnson a big projection with LeGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick in the team's backfield. Blount could steal plenty of early-down and goal-line work, while Riddick has been one of the better pass-catching backs in football over the last half decade.

If we're looking at the range of outcomes, though, there's plenty to like with Johnson. He was a do-it-all back in college with strong marks across the board, and the Lions clearly like him, trading up for him in the draft. Detroit's offensive line should be much improved, and the Detroit offense as a whole projects to be a top half one in the league this year. That should lead to scoring opportunities, which will benefit Johnson, especially if he's able to grab hold of a large workload.
