3 FanDuel Defenses to Target in Week 1
Balitmore Ravens
FanDuel Price: $4,800
numberFire Projection: 11.6 FanDuel points
On paper, there is one slam dunk defense for DFS this week, and that's the Baltimore Ravens. At home versus what appears to be the NFL's worst offense in the Buffalo Bills, the Ravens are the most expensive defense on FanDuel in Week 1, but they're well worth it.
Buffalo will be starting Nathan Peterman at quarterback. Yes, the very same Nathan Peterman whom the Chargers picked off five times in one half of football last year. He finished the 2017 season with a dreadful 49.0% completion rate and 10.2% interception rate on his 49 pass attempts. His -0.55 Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back ranked him 51st out of the 52 quarterbacks who attempted at least 40 passes last year.
Beside poor quarterbacking play, the Bills' receiving corps is led by Kelvin Benjamin, and his career 59.3% catch rate is less than frightening. Add on an offensive line that we rank near the bottom in the NFL, and the Ravens are salivating.
Baltimore finished 2017 with the most interceptions (22) and total turnovers (34) of any team in the NFL. They allowed just 18.9 points per game and ended up as the second-highest scoring D/ST with an average of 11.7 FanDuel points per game last year.
Everything points to complete domination for the Ravens in Week 1, and Vegas agrees. Baltimore is a 7.5-point favorite while the Bills own by far the lowest implied point total of the week, at just 16.5 points.
