7 Deep Fantasy Football Sleepers for Week 1
Ty Montgomery, RB, Green Bay Packers
Yahoo! Ownership: 29%
Overlooked in a crowded Green Bay Packers' backfield, Ty Montgomery is available in over 70% of fantasy leagues but could play a significant part in the Pack's offense in Week 1.
The former wideout has carved out a role as a legitimate pass-catching weapon out of the backfield in Green Bay, seeing over 11% of available targets when he played last season. In his first three games of 2017, before his season went downhill due to injuries, Montgomery totaled 18 catches on 23 targets. All reports from training camp indicate the Packers will go with a running back by committee with TyMont continuing to be the best bet for passing down work.
With passing downs belonging to him, plus some additional work available due to the suspension of Aaron Jones for two games, Montgomery could be looking at double-digit touches in a high-scoring affair -- Green Bay owns the third-highest implied point total of Week 1 (27.5) -- against the Chicago Bears on Sunday night. If that happens, he will be well worth the plug and play.
