We should have been on this one sooner. Cecil Lammey of FootballGuys warned us that Phillip Lindsay was flashing in camp, but to be fair, reports out of camp suggested that Nathan Peterman was impressing, so perhaps we should remain skeptical of preseason optimism.
The difference is, the Broncos demonstrated to us that they believe in Lindsay by actually playing him more than Devontae Booker, the guy they had listed as the starter on the depth chart as recently as a month ago.
Broncos final HB snap count:
Royce Freeman 29
Phillip Lindsay 26
Devontae Booker 19

Lindsay showed us on the field why he had earned that trust from the Broncos organization. He had the exact same rushing stat line as teammate Royce Freeman (15 carries for 71 yards), and he lead this three-headed committee in targets with 3. Freeman, meanwhile didn't log a single target.
Next week, the Denver Broncos have a soft home matchup against the Oakland Raiders, so Lindsay could make for a flex play as soon as Week 2 if you're in need of running back help.
