Fantasy Football: 10 Bold Predictions for Week 2
A 100-Yard Rusher & A 2-Touchdown Buster
Royce Freeman Will Rush for 100 yards
The Denver Broncos deployed a timeshare in Week 1, but it was an unfamiliar face in Phillip Lindsay that took snaps along with rookie starter Royce Freeman. Each player had an effective outing and Freeman was able to convert his 15 carries into 71 yards rushing.
Now, the Broncos draw a home tilt against Jon Gruden's Oakland Raiders -- a team that gave up a 100-yard performance last week to Todd Gurley. To be fair, so do a lot of teams.
Nonetheless, the Broncos are favored by six at home and should look to Freeman to grind clock and salt away a lead. I like Freeman to see more and more work as the season progresses. And against a Raiders defense that lacks skilled playmakers, Freeman could easily get loose given his projected volume.
James White Will Account for 2 Touchdowns.
Sometimes, you don't have to be the most handsome guy at the bar -- you just have to be the only guy at the bar. And in Week 2, James White could be forced into wearing several hats for the New England Patriots as they travel to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jags' defense is notoriously tough and they further showcased that by holding the New York Giants to one touchdown last week. Fortunately for White, he accumulates his production a bit differently.
As a dual threat, White logged five rushes and nine targets in Week 1 action while Rex Burkhead carried the bulk of the rushing game. However, with Burkhead and Sony Michel limited in practice this week, White could be in for a major role.
White is an underrated rusher, particularly near the goal line. Coupled with his passing game skillset, I like White for two touchdowns this week -- one rushing and one receiving.
