5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 3
Cam Newton Has Sixth Career Game With Multiple Rushing Touchdowns
Cam Newton accounted for four total touchdowns in the Carolina Panthers' victory over the previously unbeaten Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, with two through the air and two on the ground. This marked the sixth time in Newton's career that he has rushed for at least two touchdowns in a single game. This is the highest number of such games for a quarterback since 1999.
Before Sunday, Newton had shared a three-way tie with Daunte Culpepper and Michael Vick, each with five multi-touchdown games. Sunday also marked the third time that Newton had thrown for at least two touchdowns and rushed for at least two in the same game. This is the second most in league history. Only Steve Young with four has done that more times than Cam.
