Fantasy Football: 5 Things We Learned From Week 6
Quincy Enunwa Is Kearsed
Quincy Enunwa might actually be cursed. A sleeper going into the 2017 season, he injured his neck and landed on the injured reserve for the entire year. He enjoyed some speculation as a deep sleeper heading into the 2018 season, but most assumed that Robby Anderson would maintain his role as the top dog in the offense.
Instead, Enunwa broke out over the first few weeks and enjoyed an elite target share from rookie quarterback Sam Darnold. Through the first three weeks of the season Enunwa demanded 31% of the team's total targets.
But that was only while Jermaine Kearse was recovering from an abdominal injury he suffered in the preseason. In the last three weeks, Enunwa's target share is 14% while Kearse's has risen up to 23%. Injuries have played a factor in this as well -- Enunwa was dealing with a hand injury in Week 5 before suffering an ankle injury in Week 6.
The severity of the injury is unknown as of Monday morning, but it kept Enunwa from playing the rest of the game. In his absence, Kearse shredded the Indianapolis Colts for 9 receptions and 94 yards on 10 targets. If Enunwa misses any time with this ankle injury, Kearse will fill the coveted slot receiver role in the New York Jets' offense, and it makes Kearse worth an add off the waiver wire.
