5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 6
Andrew Luck Has a Record-Setting 288 Pass Attempts Through 6 Weeks
There may have been lingering concerns heading into the season regarding the health of Andrew Luck. The Colts have put those concerns to bed, thanks to the frequency they have asked Luck to air it out in the season’s opening six weeks.
Luck currently leads the NFL with 288 pass attempts, 24 more than the next guy on the list, Joe Flacco (264). Luck’s attempts are the most of any quarterback in the opening six weeks of a season in NFL history, surpassing the 284 attempts from Drew Bledsoe in 1994.
Luck had 260 attempts in Week 1 through Week 6 back in 2014, a figure that is tied for the seventh-most of all time. It is indicative of the current state of the NFL that four of the top-10 most attempts through six weeks have come this season, with Ben Roethlisberger (261) and Kirk Cousins (260) joining Luck and Flacco.
This volume has been good for Luck in fantasy, with the Colts signal caller sitting as the QB8 after Week 6. The Colts face the Bills and Oakland Raiders in their next two games. While the Bills have allowed the third-fewest fantasy points per game to quarterbacks so far, Luck should get plenty of opportunities to throw. As for the Raiders, they’ve allowed multiple passing touchdowns in all but one of their games in 2018.
