Red-Zone Market Shares

1. Melvin Gordon Is a Monster

Melvin Gordon has been a beast this season, but it could get better. His 15 red-zone rushes rank just seventh among running backs, and while his 45% percent red-zone rushing market share is nice, it doesn’t even put him in the top 20.

So it could get better, much better.

His competition on the Los Angeles Chargers is Austin Ekeler, who has garnered a modest 27.3 percent overall rushing share. But Ekeler has done most of his work in the passing game as he's yet to score a red-zone rushing touchdown in his nine attempts inside the 20.

Gordon has elevated his game this season and the Chargers' offensive line has done the same, making Gordon a no-doubt, top-shelf RB1 who could actually improve his numbers going forward if he sees more red-zone work.

2. Eric Ebron Is Going Nuts

Eric Ebron is getting 29.2% of the Indianapolis Colts' red-zone targets, and he has 5 touchdowns through Week 6. With injuries to Jack Doyle and T.Y. Hilton, Ebron has become Andrew Luck's top option, especially in the red zone.

Through Week 6, Ebron has 14 targets and 6 receptions in the red zone. He has scored on five of his six red-zone grabs.

Time will tell how things shake out once Doyle gets back, but until that happens, Ebron is a must-start at a rough tight end position.
