Derrick Henry, RB, Tennessee Titans

Yahoo Ownership: 52%

Last night might end up being the final nail in Derrick Henry's fantasy coffin. He and Dion Lewis had specific, predictable roles coming into this year. Henry would be the between-the-tackles grinder that would whittle down the clock in Tennessee Titans victories, while Lewis was slated to be the third-down and change of pace back -- or so we thought.

It even looked like that might be the case for some of the season. The problem was that the Titans just weren't winning games, so we never saw Henry closing out games. Last night, Henry fantasy owners had their worst fears confirmed -- Dion Lewis is just better than him in fantasy. It was Lewis who got the nod when the Titans were up, toting the rock eight times to Henry's four when the Titans went ahead in the second half. Lewis broke the game wide open for the Titans and got rewarded with the workload: he had 23 touches on the night, compared to Henry's 8.

Henry did score a touchdown, but don't let that fool you. He's just not going to get the dominant share of the workload he needs in order to produce in fantasy football. Even in a favorable game script against a Dallas Cowboys defense that lost key players during the game, Henry managed just 27 yards on the ground. Lewis has had more carries than Henry in three of their last four games before his big night, so don't expect the workload to suddenly shift going forward.

If Derrick Henry was not a former Heisman award winner and wasn't a second-round draft pick, I don't think we'd have any trouble evaluating him for what he's been three years into his NFL career. The Titans don't consider him to be a workhorse back, and neither should we. You can find better, more consistent running back production from players on the waiver wire this week.
