5 DraftKings Bargains for Week 10
Mike Davis, RB, Seattle Seahawks
DraftKings Price: $4,300
Projected Points: 10.08
Projected Value (points per $1,000): 2.51
There haven’t been many opportunities this season to roster the proverbial "free square" backup running back as DraftKings pricing has done a good job in keeping most backups priced up. But Chris Carson might be sidelined this week due to a hip injury, which would open the door to Mike Davis.
Carson played 10 snaps last week before exiting the game, and the Seattle Seahawks relied heavily on Davis in a game that was fairly close throughout. Davis saw 23 opportunities (targets and rushes) which could have been more had Carson not played (he received 8 carries prior to leaving). It's unlikely that he would have seen all that work, but it’s nice to know his volume ceiling is higher than what the game log showed.
In Week 4, the Seahawks were in a similar scenario where Carson missed the game and turned to Davis -- not their first round pick Rashaad Penny -- which amounted to a 25-touch game. It’s also assuring to know that Davis has been operating as the team’s third-down back, accumulating a 16% target share over the Seahawks' last three games.
Rostering game flow agnostic running backs can bring safety to the lineup given that they can catch passes in negative game script. As projected in the Vegas line here, Seahawks are currently 10.0-point underdogs.
The Seahawks might activate C.J. Prosise or another running back as insurance policy, but expectations should be that Davis leads the backfield in touches with Penny being his backup. That of course is dependent on Carson missing this week -- expectations are that he will sit out practice this week and his status will be updated on Friday.
