Kerryon Johnson Taking Over in Detroit

The Detroit Lions leaned heavily on LeGarrette Blount near the goal line early in the season. He handled 80% of the team's red zone carries twice in the first five weeks of the season, boasting a 61.5% market share of the red zone carries in that stretch.

They were also one of the league's most pass-heavy red zone offenses early on, and combining those two factors left Kerryon Johnson tallying only three red zone carries through the first six weeks of the season.

Week 7 seemed to mark a turning point, though. The Lions tallied 16 opportunities as an offense, and 10 of those were carries. Johnson ran the ball six times and added one target, accounting for 43.8% of the opportunities.

The team had only six red zone snaps in Week 8, with no opportunities going to running backs, but Weeks 9 and 10 both saw Johnson account for at least half of the team's red zone opportunities. Even including that Week 8 dud, his market share over the last four weeks sits at 40.1%, while the next-highest on the team is Blount's 13.5%.

The increase in overall volume for Johnson has been very encouraging, and the fact that he's also finally separated himself from Blount in the red zone means he offers the full package of high floor and ceiling for the remainder of the fantasy season.
