7 Deep Fantasy Football Sleepers for Week 12
Elijha McGuire, RB, New York Jets
Yahoo! Ownership: 13%
Since returning from injured reserve in Week 9, Elijah McGuire has taken over the Bilal Powell role in the New York Jets' backfield.
The second-year back saw over 54% of the backfield snaps in the last two games and received 9 touches in each. The running back posted solid numbers of 60 and 57 total yards, outproducing backfield mate Isaiah Crowell. McGuire has seen a good chunk of his production through the air, collecting 11 targets in his two games played. Facing the New England Patriots as a hefty underdog (10.5 points), McGuire is likely to see a similar workload in Week 12.
With New England typically out in front of their opponents, opposing teams have gone to the air quite a bit, averaging over 39 pass attempts per game. A good portion of those targets are going to opposing backs too -- at 7.6 per game. Overall, the Patriots are giving up an average of 5.5 catches and 47.4 receiving yards per game to opposing running backs.
Owned in under 15% of leagues and likely to see double-digit touches, McGuire is a nice plug and play off the waiver wire in Week 12.
