5 DraftKings Bargains for Week 14
Courtland Sutton, WR, Denver Broncos
DraftKings Price: $4,500
Projected Points: 13.72
Projected Value (points per $1,000): 3.05
The Denver Broncos have seen their offensive personal change drastically since opening week. They have recently had a number of injuries hit them with tight end Jeff Heuerman out for the season last week and more recently their leading receiver Emmanuel Sanders, who tore his Achilles in practice. Courtland Sutton is the only receiver to have involvement in the passing offense since opening week. The Broncos will be relying on him moving forward as their number-one option.
Sanders was placed on season ending injury reserve on Tuesday. He was on pace to have one of his best seasons in his career and the workload that is being left to the remaining Broncos receivers is enormous. He had a 25% target market share and 28% of team air yards on the season. Over the last three games, though, that jumps up to 31% and 40% -- which translates to eight targets per game. He’s also accounted for 4 of Keenum’s 14 passing touchdowns.
With Demaryius Thomas in Houston and no tight end of significance, the team should be relying on Tim Patrick and DaeSean Hamilton. Each has 11 and 7 targets on the season, respectively, and have largely been bench players for the Broncos. Sutton, on the other hand, has been integrated in the offense since Week 1.
Sutton saw his highest target total (seven) on the season against the Cincinnati Bengals, which did not involve Heuerman. He’s had a consistent yardage floor, hitting 50 receiving yards or more in 5 of the last 7 games. The fantasy community has been waiting for him to put it all together since the Thomas trade, and with the Sanders injury he should see a target bump to his 5.2 per game.
The Broncos will be playing the 49ers this week, which should be a plus matchup for their passing game. The Niners are a bottom-third passing defense based on numberFire’s rankings. They’ve allowed 40.2 DraftKings points to wide receivers this season and the seventh-most over the last two weeks (48.9 points).
Sutton’s DFS price hasn’t yet changed due to the Sanders injury coming mid-week, so we are getting a discounted price tag here for at least one week. He’s numberFire’s top value receiver for Week 14.
