5 NFL Red Zone Trends to Monitor for Week 15
Julio Jones Is Starting to see Red Zone Work
The "Julio Jones doesn't score touchdowns" trend was surprising when you considered his overall workload but also made some sense when considering his complete lack of red zone work.
Before Week 10, he was targeted in the red zone only three times this season, all of which were in Week 1. From Weeks 2 to 9, he didn't see a single red zone target, and he scored one touchdown.
Since then, he saw three red zone targets in Week 10, three in Week 12 and two in Week 14, and he has scored four touchdowns in the five games in that span.
He has accounted for 21.6% of the Atlanta Falcons' red zone opportunities in that time, which would be the third-highest mark in the league for a wide receiver if extrapolated over the entire season. His 30.8% target share in that time would also be good for eighth on the year.
Julio's value in putting up big yardage and reception numbers was never in question, and with his red zone workload now reflecting his status as one of the elite receivers in the NFL, his upside is revealing itself at the perfect time for his fantasy football owners.
