As our NEP rankings suggest, the Titans are solid in most areas of the game, but not really great in any one of them.
Titans | Passing Offense | Rushing Offense | Passing Defense | Rushing Defense |

NEP per Play Rank | 17 | 12 | 17 | 17 |
Tennessee is also 12th in overall Special Teams NEP, and in terms of raw yards per play, the Titans have averaged 5.3 while conceding 5.3. Given these numbers, it is not hard to see why they are almost squarely in the middle of the pack and on the bubble for a playoff spot.
The running game has been their comparative strength, but even here, they have not truly stood out. The Titans are tied for the eighth-lowest fumble rate on rushes but are just 15th in yards per carry (4.4) and 20th in first downs per rush (24.2%).
Only Seattle has run more frequently than Tennessee, who has a pass-run ratio of about 51-49. Since passing is more efficient than rushing, the Titans do not rank higher in terms of overall offensive efficiency.
On the defensive side of things, the Titans rank sixth in the league in yards allowed per play and fourth in first downs allowed per play; their NEP mark would be higher if not for the league's fourth-lowest turnover rate.
