Week 17 is a bit of a mish-mash. The New Orleans Saints are in a position of luxury, having secured the NFC’s top seed and thus being able to rest their big-named starters such as Drew Brees. With the week being irregular from a projection standpoint, any bit of news and coach information that can be gleaned throughout the week will change player value.

The Saints are expected to rest their starters and give a Teddy Bridgewater a significant amount of playing time. It hasn’t been confirmed whether it will be a full start or one drive after the starters play, but Teddy figures to play. Bridgewater hasn’t started a game since 2015, which was his last season as a full-time player. Bridgewater has played just 19 snaps this season but should be well-versed with the playbook by now.

Bridgewater played his preseason with the New York Jets prior to being traded. In three games this preseason, Bridgewater was 28-of-38 with 316 passing yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.

This matchup should be in favor for Bridgewater, as well, the Carolina Panthers have been sliding in passing defense throughout the season and will be on the road. The Panthers have a bottom-10 pass defense, per our numbers, and oddsmakers tend to believe in the Saints backups as they are 8.5-point favorites in this contest, per FanDuel Sportsbook.

Bridegewater’s value is tied to whether he is splitting time on Sunday, but as the week moves on, we may have a better feel for what his exact role will be. Our current projections have the Saints starters playing some but will reflect any changes as we get closer to game day.
