In 2011, Jordy Nelson scored 15 touchdowns with Aaron Rodgers tossing him passes, and finished the season with the sixth-highest Reception NEP total at wide receiver.

The following season, Nelson was only able to start 10 games, finishing with seven scores and 745 receiving yards.

And then last year, Nelson actually put together his highest total from a yardage perspective, but without Aaron Rodgers, he only scored (“only”) eight times.

Things are coming together in 2014. A tough Week 1 matchup against the Seahawks saw Nelson rank as our 22nd-best wide receiver, which wasn’t bad, all things considered. In Week 2, Nelson connected with Rodgers for over 200 yards and a touchdown, rewarding fantasy owners for selecting him at the tail-end of Round 2 in August drafts.

The Jets secondary isn’t a top-tier unit, but Nelson’s 16 targets led the NFL in Week 2, and he had 14 looks from Rodgers in Week 1. His current rate is not only absurd, but if the connection continues, Nelson will have no trouble being a top-five fantasy receiver this year.
