6 Players You Shouldn't Start in Week 3
Andre Ellington, Arizona Cardinals
Now, diva shouldn't be misconstrued as an insult; it's more a testament to his lightning-fast open field burst when he's healthy. There's the operative phrase, though: when healthy. Andre Ellington has been battling a foot injury since the preseason, and hasn't necessarily looked like the player you drafted in Round 3 this year. He's remained a top-30 running back, but his explosiveness hasn't been nearly as present as we'd believed. With him limited, the Cardinals have turned to more of a committee running back team, as well as utilizing their passing game a bit more often than expected (1.33 pass-to-run ratio currently).
Add in that the Cardinals are facing the stout 49ers defense this week, who held Matt Forte of the Bears to just three points in Week 2, and you have a spurning a-comin'. Indeed, the 49ers are seventh in the league in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP, and I don't expect that to change against a limping speed back.
