8 Big-Name Players You May Want to Avoid in Week 5
Alfred Morris, RB, Washington Redskins
The Washington offense is a complete mess. From week to week, I doubt even head coach Jay Gruden knows which version is going to show up on his field. With new starting quarterback Kirk Cousins under center, the hope was that an improved passing game would bring balance back to the offense, and take some of the pressure off the horrendous defense and running back Alfred Morris.
That hasn't really happened yet. Morris currently ranks sixth among running backs in fantasy scoring, mainly because of a 20-point day in Week 2 and a 14-point showing in Week 4. The other two outings? Only 9 and 7. For a clear top-notch running back option, you want security in knowing what you'll get on a weekly basis. Morris' touches have fluctuated from 12 to 23 this season, as well, as his workload is constantly being reevaluated.
With a matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night, Morris figures to be running into seven brick walls on every touch, as the 'Hawks rank sixth in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP. Add in that the Seattle offense will likely be putting up points left and right against this lackluster Washington defense, and Cousins will likely have Roy Helu lined up with him more often than Morris in a garbage time comeback mode. Bench Morris if you can - which, of course, isn't always possible - this week.
