5 Things I Learned From Week 13 of the NFL Season
Colt McCoy Is Better Than RGIII
You can't exactly blame Colt McCoy for the Redskins' loss yesterday, as their defense allowed Andrew Luck to throw all over them. McCoy was actually alright, totaling over 3.00 Passing Net Expected Points on the day, which will bring his season total to about 16.00. On a per drop back basis, McCoy is adding roughly 0.20 points through the air for the Redskins, which is a top-15 number.
This is far and away better than Robert Griffin III, who had played 31.16 points below expectation for Washington before being benched, good (awful) for a -0.22 per drop back average. Among relevant quarterbacks, only Michael Vick has been worse.
There's no doubt that Colt McCoy is -- and I can't believe this is being written in 2014 -- better than Robert Griffin III.
