Breshad Perriman Replaces Torrey Smith

The Baltimore Ravens lost their lead wideout Torrey Smith in free agency to the San Francisco 49ers earlier this offseason.

And before the full impact of this loss could be felt by the team, the Ravens quickly responded by adding a bigger, faster, and some would argue tougher version of Torrey at the end of the first round in Central Florida wide receiver Breshad Perriman.

As I described in my in-depth breakdown of Perriman earlier this offseason, the second-generation NFL wideout has an insane combination of size (6' 2", 212 pounds) and speed (4.24 40-yard dash) that any NFL team would covet.

Indeed, Perriman not only possesses the same height and weight as the average top-12 wideout from the past five seasons, his 40-yard dash time recorded at UCF's pro day matches the fastest time recorded for any receiver at the NFL Combine for the past 16 years.

With Breshad's elite combination of size and speed, an on-field ability that actually reminds me a lot of Bengals wideout A.J. Green, and the only competition on this team for targets coming from an aging Steve Smith and a reliable but otherwise pedestrian Kamar Aiken, I expect Perriman to quickly emerge as the top receiving option for Joe Flacco in Baltimore this season.
