5 Undervalued Wide Receivers Heading Into Your Fantasy Football Drafts
Roddy White
I guess it’s officially that time in his career where Roddy White gets no love, which I intend to exploit in 2015. With White currently being drafted as the 34th highest receiver, and with numberFire projecting him to put up the 23rd best fantasy numbers in 2014, this disparity offers an eighth-round steal opportunity for fantasy footballers.
While he isn’t blowing the top off of defenses at this point in his career, White is still a more-than-serviceable number-two receiver for your fantasy squad or, at the very least, a badass flex. Despite playing only 14 games last season, White accumulated 80 catches and 921 yards. Playing the extrapolation game, this would have resulted in 91-catch, 1,053-yard, 8-touchdown stat line over a full 16 game season. In standard leagues, this would have resulted in a total of 153 fantasy points. The closest receivers that numberFire projects for this total in 2015? DeSean Jackson and DeAndre Hopkins. Not bad company if you ask me.
Avid numberFire readers already know that the Kyle Shannanan turns his X receivers into football gluttons trope is a myth, so Julio Jones isn’t going to all of a sudden gobble up all of White’s targets. With only the addition of fourth-round draft pick Justin Hardy, thought more of as a replacement for the recent loss of Harry Douglas, there’s no reason to believe that if White can stay healthy that he can’t put up similar numbers to his 2014 season.
If you can stomach the fact that White’s had a few nicks and bruises the last two seasons, exploit the gap between his ADP and our projected performance. You won’t be sorry.
