5 Late-Round Quarterbacks to Target in Fantasy Football Drafts

Teddy Bridgewater, Minnesota Vikings

By Daniel Lindsey

Teddy Bridgewater is one quarterback that I like late in drafts this year for two reasons: surrounding talent and favorable matchups.

In the talent category, first up is Mike Wallace. Wallace had the third best season of his career from a Net Expected Points perspective as well as from a fantasy perspective last year. He had been a fringe WR2 in 2012 and 2013, but finished in the top 20 in standard and PPR formats in 2014 in Miami. Wallace could be just what the Vikings receiving corp needs to give Bridgewater a boost.

Adrian Peterson will be back as well. Even though he’s 30 -– the “hit the wall” stage for most running backs -- Peterson hasn’t always been "most running backs". He should help keep the passing lanes open for Bridgewater.

Bridgewater’s production should rise as well, as he was a startable, top-12 quarterback on five different occasions in 2014 without Wallace and Peterson. And he now has a handful of games against teams that finished in the bottom third of fantasy points against versus quarterback last season, including the Broncos, Raiders, Falcons, Giants, Cardinals, Bears (twice) and Packers (twice).

Bridgewater could come close to QB1 status in just his second season, but if he doesn’t, he should still be a reliable matchup play in 2015 thanks to the schedule.
