Sporting the longest consecutive losing streak to close out the 2014 season (10 games), the Tennessee Titans brought head coach Ken Wiusenhunt back for 2015. The biggest offseason development was the drafting of Marcus Mariota who the Titans see as their franchise quarterback.
The problem is the Titans lack quality play makers around Mariota. Kendall Wright, Harry Douglas and Delanie Walker provide adequate short passing game options, but with no real field stretching options, it’s likely be a dink and dunk approach.
The running game looks rough on paper with a committee backfield likely brewing. Rookie David Cobb was placed on injured reserve and will miss at least eight weeks, leaving Bishop Sankey, newly-acquired Terrance West and Dexter McCluster on the roster. It will be crucial for left tackle Taylor Lewan to improve as he protects Mariota’s blind side.
A major reason why Tennessee is slotted as the worst team in the league according to our rankings is because of their defense. Projected as the 32nd overall defense, it’s easy to see the 2015 version of this group being very similar to last year’s edition.
The signing of Brian Orakpo should help the pass rush, and Jurrell Casey is an extremely solid defensive lineman. The best cover corner, Jason McCourty is recovering from offseason surgery and will likely miss two games. This leaves Perrish Cox, Blidi Wreh-Wilson and Coty Sensabaugh tasked to shut down opposing passing games.

It’s totally reasonable to assume Tennessee will not only be a bottom feeder in the AFC South but may also be vying for the first overall draft pick in 2016 with division rival Jacksonville.
