DraftKings Daily Fantasy Football Helper for Week 4
Running Backs
High-Cost Option: Eddie Lacy $6,900
Most of the high priced options at running back produce some unfavorable matchups this week, but one of the safest play that could hit our value threshold is Eddie Lacy. Lacy showed no signs of being worse for wear following Monday night's game where they eased him back in to play following his injury giving him 13 touches to James Starks' 18 touches. Following another week of rest, Lacy should be good to go against a San Francisco defense giving up the sixth most fantasy points to opposing running backs.
As mentioned earlier with this week's highest projected total by Vegas at 48.5, this is a game worth getting a ton of exposure in. If the Packers jump out to an early lead, Lacy's number will be called often to keep running the clock. The Packers have the sixth highest rushing play percentage in the league and are going against a team that gives up the 11th most first downs to opposing teams.
Mid-Cost Option: Latavius Murray $6,300
After rushing for over 200 yards and 2 touchdowns the last two weeks, Latavius Murray now faces a Chicago run defense that has allowed the fourth-most rushing yards to opposing running backs so far this season. The frosting on the fantasy cake is that the Chicago defense has also allowed the most total points this season, as Murray faces a matchup where he should see a big spike in both yardage and the potential for scores. Oakland is averaging 3.3 red zone trips per game (tied for 11th highest) as this offense has gotten into a red-hot start this season compiling the 10th most points in the league.
After receiving 27 touches in a blow out win against Cleveland, Murray could once again see that type of volume if Oakland follows the predictive game script. Murray has received 68.8% of the team's offensive snaps this season -- fourth highest among all running backs. Murray will get the volume and should capitalize immensely on this poor rushing defense.
Low-Cost Option: Frank Gore $4,700
A slow start to the season and a lackluster performance overall by Indianapolis has led to Frank Gore's price drop down to $4,700 this week, despite facing a Jacksonville defense that just allowed four rushing touchdowns last week.
While the Colts still try to figure out what's wrong with quarterback Andrew Luck, they can rely on the 11-year veteran to carry the rock and help set the tempo for the offense. After a 2-touchdown, 87-yard performance against the Titans last week, Gore will look to keep his current pace going against a Jaguars defense that has allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing running backs to date.
GPP Wildcard: Melvin Gordon $4,900
After burning owners last week in a great matchup against the run-porous Vikings, Melvin Gordon could be a bit of an underutilized commodity in Week 4. We've seen Gordon on the cusp of great runs several times already this season, and now he gets a home matchup against the Cleveland Browns defense that just surrendered 139 yards on the ground last week to Latavius Murray.
I've utilized Danny Woodhead very frequently this season because of his cost in PPR formats, but I'm fading him this week in lieu of this year's first rounder. A great statistic from Rich Hribar's The Worksheet: Week 4 found that Gordon ranks eighth in the league in first-half rushing attempts, but only 25th in second-half rushing attempts, due largely to the Chargers leading the league in running 88.1% of their plays while trailing this season. After a lot of whiffs last week on Gordon, the game script sets up perfectly for Gordon this week and could make for a low-owned intriguing GPP play.
Bonus GPP Wildcard: Karlos Williams $3,400
LeSean McCoy's hamstring injury may cause him to miss Week 4 and potentially more, while the Bills face a nice matchup at home against the Giants. At only $3,400 Karlos Williams could be a winning GPP lottery ticket steal. The current leader in Rushing NEP, Williams, faces a Giants front-seven that has given up the 28th most fantasy points to opposing running backs on the season. After rushing for 112 yards and a score last week on only 10 carries, Williams could be in for a monster day if given the green light over McCoy for the run-heavy Bills.
