FanDuel Studs to Target in Week 5
Matt Ryan
Matt Ryan has been a good but not great fantasy quarterback this season, but there's good reason to believe that he could have a great game this week.
First, the Falcons get to play at home in the Georgia Dome where Ryan's career stats are quite telling regarding his game splits. Ryan's averaged a 67% completion rate with a 2.39 touchdown-to-interception ratio at home over the course of his career as opposed to a 62% completion rate and a 1.74 to one touchdown-to-interception ratio on the road, so things are looking good for this weekend.
The Falcons enter the game as 7.5-point favorites against the Redskins, so one might ordinarily be concerned about game script issues limiting the Falcons aerial attack. But the Redskins have been, going back to last season, quite good at defending the run, and currently rank as the third best run defense in the league per our metrics.
With an over under of 48, the Falcons are projected to put up about 28 points, which would ordinarily result from four touchdowns. With the Redskins sporting such a stout run defense, and only the 21st-ranked passing defense, it wouldn't be at all surprising for the Falcons to reverse their more recent run-heavy trend and for Ryan to get at least a couple scores through the air.
With an almost unstoppable connection with Julio Jones, currently the best wide receiver in football, and a fairly tasty matchup at home, our numbers project Ryan to be the highest scoring quarterback in the league on FanDuel this week, despite being only the fourth-highest priced. Get Ryan in your cash game lineups for a nice, safe floor with a high chance of upside.
