FanDuel Studs to Target in Week 5
Odell Beckham Jr.
Remember when I told you I would roster Randall Cobb against the 49ers all over again if given the opportunity? I would do so because it's good process. That same logic applies to rostering Odell Beckham this week as well.
Beckham's certainly regressed as many predicted he would after an otherworldly rookie season in 2014. But don't let his down Week 4 fool you. He was facing the very talented, fifth-ranked passing defense in the Bills per our metrics, whose two cornerbacks, Ronald Darby and Stephen Gillmore, both rank in the top 12 according to Pro Football Focus' cornerback rankings. This week he gets to face the 20th ranked 49ers' passing defense, whose highest ranking cornerback, Jimmie Ward, registers as the 44th best cornerback in the league.
Beckham is still the fourth most targeted receiver in the league in terms of total team target percentage at 32.5%. However, his red zone target percentage currently stands at a lower 25%. It'd make sense if that increased, given Beckham's ridiculous ability to create space within split seconds.
While the Giants are currently favored by seven points, raising game-script concerns, they're still projected to score 25 points. And currently, 78% of their offensive touchdowns have come via the pass, so Beckham, coming off of a down game, could be eager to make a splash. And if Beckham's getting open, which he shouldn't have too much trouble doing, Eli Manning should be eager to feed him the rock.
Exploit people's fears about a down year and coming off of a down week to your advantage and get Beckham in some of your tournament lineups.
