Before the season began, there weren't many people loving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' backfield. Sure, there'd been reports of a lighter, swifter, Doug Martin who was primed to have his second breakout after a couple of duds in his second and third seasons. After being burned for two straight seasons, many previous Martin owners thought the job might eventually land in Charles Sims' hands.

But here's one thing we all knew. We knew this offense couldn't support two fantasy relevant backs. But it may be time to check our biases, because Martin went buck-wild yesterday for the second straight week, and Sims put up a respectable effort, too, collecting 51 yards on the ground and 86 yards through the air.

Sims is the back the Bucs look to in passing down situations, and for good reason. Sims' 0.52 Reception NEP per target far outpaces Martins 0.19 Reception NEP per target. In fact, among running backs targeted at least 10 times this season, his efficiency ranks eighth-best.

With a mistake-prone rookie quarterback at the helm in Jameis Winston, it's safe to say the Bucs may end up in quite a few situations where they're playing from behind. That could open the door to even more work for Sims. At the very least, Sims could be a usable start in deeper PPR leagues during critical bye weeks, particularly when the Bucs are projected to trail.
