Green Bay Packers Rushing Offense

As a person who owns Eddie Lacy in season-long, I get why you might be hesitant to pull the trigger on this one. Only 257 yards and 1 touchdown through 5 games isn't going to inspire a whole lot of confidence. That's actually part of the reason I want to roster him.

First, Lacy's struggles have driven his price way down. He's at $7,300 on FanDuel and $6,300 on DraftKings. That's after he started the year at $8,500 on FanDuel and $7,500 on DraftKings. Exploiting drops in prices is a practice to which you should subscribe, and this is an extreme example that is ripe for the picking.

Second, despite a lack in volume, Lacy has still managed to be efficient. He's 15th in Rushing NEP per play out of 55 running backs with at least 25 carries. He's also 13th in Rushing Success Rate, which backs the assumption that this is sustainable efficiency. Basically, he has been better than the numbers would indicate this season.

Third, people may shy away from Lacy because of his struggles. That pushes his ownership down and allows you to benefit more when he does do well. All of this adds up to make Lacy a good play. When you add in his matchup, he becomes even better than that.

The San Diego Chargers are 25th in the league in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play. They have allowed at least 150 rushing yards in three of their past four games. The two times this year where they didn't allow at least 150 yards were their two victories; they are 11.5-point underdogs this week.

Because of that incredible spread, I really have no problem with Lacy in cash this week. Sure, it's a concern that he hasn't been getting the volume, but everything is setting up for that to change in a big way in Week 6.
