5 Daily Fantasy Football Matchups to Exploit in Week 6
New England Patriots Passing Offense
I know -- shocker, right? The New England Patriots are quite good at football. And they've got themselves a stupidly sweet matchup this week.
A lot of the discussion surrounding this game has centered around what the Patriots' "big backs" have done over the past three games against the Colts. Both LeGarrette Blount and Jonas Gray have been able to go bonkers, leading you to think that this may be the case again in Week 6. I don't exactly see it that way.
In looking at those games, it was a clear case of Bill Belichick attacking the Colts' weaknesses. For those three instances, their biggest struggle came at stopping the inside run. If you take a peak at numberFire's metrics, you'll see that this is no longer the case.
The true struggles of this Indianapolis defense lie in their battered secondary. They are 28th in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play, compared to 19th in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play. Obviously, they're not excelling in either arena, but they are one of the worst teams in the league against the pass. Don't think the Patriots won't recognize that.
I'm not saying this to discourage you from using Dion Lewis. He has 30 targets through four games this year, so he also benefits from a porous pass defense. When you add in the Colts' mediocrity against the run, it's clear that Lewis is a great option in both cash and tourney lineups.
The guy I would turn to in cash would most definitely be Tom Brady. He has weekly finishes as QB1, QB2, QB6 and QB5 in the team's first four games, never finishing with fewer than 22.72 FanDuel points. That's a drool-worthy floor, fam.
In tourneys, where you likely don't want to pay up for quarterback, you can still get a piece of Brady's juiciness by rostering either Julian Edelman or Rob Gronkowski. There's no real need to get cute with it, either, and deviate from those two. They have combined to see 50.3 percent of the team's total targets. When you add in Lewis, they're at 69.18 percent. No other player on the team has more than 15 targets on the year. Get ownership in this team, and watch those point totals soar.
