When Jimmy Graham was traded from the New Orleans Saints to the Seattle Seahawks earlier this year, the question on everyone's mind was who would step up and fill in the highly productive pass catching tight end role on this team.
Well, over the last few weeks it looks as if the answer is tight end Benjamin Watson.
Doing his best Graham impersonation on Sunday, Watson reeled in 9 of 10 targets for 147 yards and a touchdown against the New York Giants' 15th-ranked pass defense. This performance netted Watson an amazing 14.22 Reception NEP on the day, which should boost his already impressive 0.80 Reception NEP per target that had him ranked as the fifth most efficient tight end in the league with at least 30 targets going into Week 8.
This high usage for Watson is actually an extension of a trend that started a few weeks back, with Drew Brees lobbing 12, 5, and 10 targets Watson's way over the last three games. With Brees' affinity for throwing to the tight end, Benjamin could be in for a very big year, making him a no-brainer pick up for teams in need at the position.
