Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has had quite a turnaround from his rookie season in which he was one of the least efficient quarterbacks in the league.

On Sunday, Carr took on the Jets' fifth-ranked pass defense according to our schedule-adjusted metrics and carved them up for 333 yards and 4 touchdowns. And a deeper look into the numbers suggest this performance is more real than not.

Prior to his game against the Jets, Carr already had three top-12 performances on the year, including two top-6 performances and three 20-plus point games over six contests.

In terms of efficiency, Carr's 0.18 Passing NEP per drop back going into Week 8 was the seventh-best mark among all signal callers with at least 100 pass attempts this year, just slightly behind Philip Rivers (0.20).

From all this, it's clear that if you're looking for a quarterback and he's floating around on your waiver wire, you could do worse than grab Carr who has been operating as a bona fide QB1 for the first half of this season.
