Week 8 NFL Advanced Analytics Superstars
Wide Receiver: Odell Beckham Jr.
Odell Beckham Jr., WR, New York Giants
8 Receptions, 130 Yards, 9 Targets, 3 TD
NEP: +16.94
Odell Beckham Jr. blew out the competition this week at receiver, posting a +16.94 NEP for Week 8 and laying claim to the title. He had a ridiculous week, putting up 130 yards on 8 receptions along with 3 touchdowns against New Orleans.
Despite seeing fewer than 10 targets for the third straight week, Beckham was able to make the most of the opportunities he was given and shake the newly glorified Delvin Breaux and his hyped up coverage. Beckham is such a fluid athlete, but it's his uncanny catching skills and open field vision that make him such a dangerous receiver.
Down by seven in the fourth quarter, ODB was able to take a quick 10-yard in route and navigate through the secondary on his way to a big 38-yard gain that led to the eventual game-tying score. His highlight reel from this week doesn't give his ridiculous skillset justice, but it does includes some pretty great touchdown celebrations. Leading all receivers with 39 PPR fantasy points this week, Beckham's return to his home-town state was a memorable one.
Among other wide receivers this week, Demaryius Thomas has his best outing of the season, picking up 168 yards on just 8 catches. A lot of the chalk plays in daily fantasy went off this week with Alshon Jeffery and A.J. Green each surpassing double digit receptions, 100-plus yards and a touchdown each. Julian Edelman and Malcom Floyd buoyed their weekly performances by each putting up two touchdowns.
