Plugging the Gaps: IDP Waiver Wire for Week 9
Brandon Browner, Cornerback
Here we go again: another cornerback who has a better reputation than his coverage skills merit. Brandon Browner has been known to be a hard-hitting, physical cornerback for years, which is likely why he was brought onboard the New Orleans Saints’ defensive overhaul this year. That said, he is poor in coverage and quarterbacks know it: he’s been targeted the 23rd most among cornerbacks on the 2015 season, and has ridden that to a 23rd-best place among cornerbacks in balanced fantasy scoring.
This week, he and the Saints will host the Tennessee Titans, and Browner will hope to victimize rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota. Mariota has just the 13th-highest interception rate among quarterbacks this season (out of 40), but Browner could find a gimme interception in his hands somewhere if the Titans decide to test him this weekend.
Browner is available in 90.1% of ESPN IDP leagues. We project him for around 4.5 tackles, a good chance for an interception, a pass defensed, and a total score of 6.82 balanced fantasy points in Week 9.
