Coby Fleener to the New Orleans Saints

The Colts have misused some of their offensive skill position players so badly -- from playing Andre Johnson over Donte Moncrief to the Trent Richardson debacle -- that tight end Dwayne Allen was reportedly considering walking away this offseason himself. After new offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski promised him a larger offensive role, though, it was clear that Coby Fleener was the odd man out in this Indy offense.

Fleener instead goes to the New Orleans Saints, where he will be the spiritual heir to Jimmy Graham in the lethal move tight end role. The Saints have offered their tight ends an average 0.72 Reception NEP per target over the past three years, whereas Fleener has had a 0.58 Reception NEP per target in a limited, inconsistent role in Indianapolis. Plugging him into this offense should help sustain the versatility of the Saints’ passing attack, despite the loss of Benjamin Watson and Jimmy Graham in recent years.
