Iām personally not a fan of keeping 36-year old wide receivers on my roster for a hefty chunk of change, so I understand why the San Francisco 49ers allowed Anquan Boldin to walk without an extension. The only problem with this, though, is that it leaves just Torrey Smith and Quinton Patton to toe the line for this rebuilding wide receiver group.
Smith at least racked up a Reception NEP per target of 0.86, despite his ugly Catch Rate of 53.23 percent, but Patton was mediocre in both regards; he pulled in a 0.56 and 52.63 percent, respectively. This leaves the Niners with a mediocre deep threat, a lackluster possession prospect, and no real third option. They will be prime candidates to invest draft capital in the position.
