3.09: Jordan Payton, WR, Cleveland Browns

Drafter Comments

"Cleveland drafted four wide receivers this year, so they're preparing to move on without Josh Gordon. The depth chart is pretty lengthy, but Brian Hartline, Andrew Hawkins, Taylor Gabriel, and Terrelle Pryor haven't really proven anything in Cleveland, while Rashard Higgins was drafted later than Payton. Even though I think Higgins is more talented than Payton, the fact that Payton was selected earlier means that they expect (and hope) that Payton earns more playing time. This is a pick I hope turns into something substantial once the Browns find or groom their quarterback of the future." -- Joseph Nammour

Other Comments

"It's weird to say this, but with all the receivers they brought in, the Browns will have an intriguing camp this summer. Honestly, other than Coleman, I have no idea who will start. Payton doesn't have a high ceiling, but I don't think his floor is too low, either. He's a solid receiver who uses his body well, which he has to do to survive because he doesn't have NFL-type burst off the line." -- Austan Kas

"Payton is in an interesting spot because the starting wide receivers for Cleveland are almost assuredly going to be all rookies. That said, I would place him behind both Corey Coleman and Rashard Higgins due to their incredible collegiate production, and if I'm taking a less productive wideout, it will probably be the more athletic Ricardo Louis." -- Anthony Amico
