5 Rookies Who Should Impact Fantasy Football in 2016
Laquon Treadwell, WR, Minnesota Vikings
Laquon Treadwell is expected to slide in as Teddy Bridgewater’s number-one option besides Stefon Diggs.
Treadwell’s size and physicality should give the Vikings a dynamic duo with Treadwell countering the explosive Diggs on the outside. In college, Treadwell was praised for his ability to make contested catches, making him a prime red zone target for Bridgewater as well.
But unlike his first round counterpart in Corey Coleman, Treadwell, the fourth wide receiver off the board in April, might not see the volume that Coleman could potentially have in Cleveland.
While Treadwell should establish himself as the Vikings top pass-catcher, the Vikings offense remains centered around Adrian Peterson and the running game. Over the past two seasons, the Vikings have run the ball on nearly 50 percent of their plays and ranked dead last in passing attempts in 2015.
As a rookie in 2015, Diggs led the Vikings in receiving with 84 targets, 52 receptions, 720 yards, and 4 touchdowns. Mike Wallace was third on the team in targets with 72, which led to 39 receptions for 473 yards and two touchdowns, but he signed with Baltimore in the offseason.
Treadwell will eat into Diggs’ total and assume most of the volume which went to Wallace. But in the end, the Vikings revolve around Peterson, limiting some of Treadwell’s upside.
