10. Dick Jauron, Chicago Bears/Buffalo Bills

Dick Jauron doesn’t have a particularly impactful coaching legacy, but he definitely hung around the NFL for a long time. First hired as a defensive coordinator in 1995 by the expansion-era Jacksonville Jaguars, Jauron remained in a coordinator role or better for 12 of his 13 years in coaching following this promotion.

His head coaching stops with the Chicago Bears (1999 to 2003) and Buffalo Bills (2006 to 2009) were even less inspiring. Outside of the 2001 season, where his Bears dominated the NFC Central, Jauron never had a winning record as a head coach and never had a single playoff win. That his overall record stands at 59-78 (sans his interim head coach position with the Detroit Lions in 2005) stands as a testament to how bad his teams were in terms of value: five of his eight seasons since 2000 had nERD scores of -5.00 or worse, and only one saw positive value added.
