The 7 Riskiest Players in Fantasy Football
4. Dez Bryant, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Dez Bryant is another player whose 2015 season has led to questions about how he will perform going forward.
A broken foot led to him missing seven games and finishing with only 31 catches for 401 yards and 3 touchdowns -- all of which were career lows. In five of the games that Bryant did appear in, he was also hampered by the absence of his usual starting quarterback Tony Romo, who only appeared in four games last season due to his own injuries.
During the injury-struck year, the Cowboys’ -0.02 Adjusted Passing NEP per drop back ranked 30th in the NFL. If either Bryant or Romo can't regain their pre-injury form in 2016, fantasy owners could see the nightmare of Bryant falling to his CI floor as the 30th-ranked fantasy wide receiver come true.
But with great risk, (possibly) comes great reward, and the potential reward with drafting Bryant is landing the fifth best fantasy wide receiver.
Look at how Bryant performed in each of the three years prior to 2015.
Year | Receptions | Yards | Touchdowns |
---|---|---|---|
2014 | 88 | 1,320 | 16 |
2013 | 93 | 1,233 | 13 |
2012 | 92 | 1,382 | 12 |
Between 2012-2014, he averaged 91 catches for 1,311 yards and 13 touchdowns per season, and his 16 touchdowns in 2014 led the entire NFL. Based on his 1.11 ADP, the health of both Bryant and Romo will determine whether picking the Cowboys’ wide receiver makes or breaks your fantasy season.
