3 FanDuel Kickers to Target in Week 13
Kickers. Love 'em or hate 'em, they are a part of the game. Even in fantasy football.
While you may be tempted to do so, don't leave the position for last when building your FanDuel lineups. Just like you do with the rest of your roster, maximize your squad's potential by spending the extra minute and finding out the best options out there at kicker.
It's time to stop "punting" the spot and start giving the lonesome kicker the attention he deserves.
The following are the top-three kickers we are targeting in Week 13.
Wil Lutz, New Orleans Saints
FanDuel Price: $5,000
Posting 122 FanDuel points in 11 games, Wil Lutz is surprisingly the second-highest scoring fantasy kicker this season. The New Orleans Saints placekicker ranks near the top due to the offense's ability to move the ball at will against opposing defenses. This unit ranks second with 409.4 yards per game while scoring 29.3 points per game, which is fourth-most in the league.
All that action has led to Lutz receiving consistent volume. He has attempted at least two field goals in all but one game, ranking fourth overall with an average of 2.5 kicks per game. He's also tried the most extra points of any kicker in the NFL, providing him with a solid base of points.
While Week 13's opponent the Carolina Panthers aren't the best defense to target with kickers (only 17 field goal attempts allowed all year), the Saints are 4.0-point home favorites with the 48.0-point over/under being among the highest this week. These two teams faced off in Week 3, and Lutz got a crack at 3 field goals while scoring 12 FanDuel points.
Ryan Succop, Tennessee Titans
FanDuel Price: $4,800
After starting the year as an absolute beast by attempting 22 field goals the first seven weeks (3.1 per game), Ryan Succop has cooled off a bit. The Tennessee Titans' kicker has tried "only" seven field goals the last four games (1.8 per game) including three straight with multiple kicks. Once an elite fantasy option, Succop has dropped to seventh-overall, posting a respectable 10.4 FanDuel points per game through 11 contests.
However, his matchup against the Houston Texans in Week 13 looks to have him back to the rock steady fantasy source that averaged 12.3 FanDuel points for the first two months of the season.
The slumping Texans (who have lost four of their last five games) will travel to Tennessee, where Succop and the Titans are hefty 7.0-point favorites. The positive game script doesn't end there, as the Texans allow the third-most fantasy points to kickers (9.9) while surrendering 2.1 made field goals per game, fifth-most in the NFL. In the last four weeks, there have been three games with multiple field goal attempts against them, including three to Justin Tucker on Monday night.
Josh Lambo, Jacksonville Jaguars
FanDuel Price: $4,600
A favorite bargain option of ours, Josh Lambo makes the cut again in Week 13 thanks to the Jacksonville Jaguars' matchup with the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts have given up the fourth-most field goal attempts and third-most extra point tries, along with allowing the third-most FanDuel points per game to the position.
The Jags are also heavy home favorites with Vegas setting the spread at 9.5 points, the second-largest margin of the week. Jacksonville also owns an implied point total of 25.0, seventh-highest of the week.
In four of the five games Lambo has kicked for Jacksonville, he has attempted at least two field goals. That includes in his first game in a Jaguars uniform in Week 7, which was against the Colts. He scored 10 FanDuel points that week, and if that performance can be repeated, he would be an excellent value at just $100 over the minimum.
