FanDuel Daily Fantasy Football Helper: Week 16
If you've never played daily fantasy football on FanDuel before, it's time to start. Unlike traditional leagues, you're able to select the players you want on that specific day only, giving you a different squad to root for each and every week.
Here at numberFire we offer great tools for premium members. The analysis below is meant to help you understand why some of these players are top picks in our tools and projections because we don't want you going into the weekend completely blind. We want to help you. Keep in mind, however, that things can change drastically if an injury is announced, so make sure you're double checking the tools and projections as close as possible to kickoff.
Let's break down the main slate on FanDuel for this week.
Quarterbacks
Cam Newton (FanDuel Price: $8,300) - The Carolina Panthers can finish as high as the 2 seed in the NFC, albeit an unlikely occurrence. Newton's passing production has been lacking, but he is still producing some huge fantasy totals because of what he's doing with his legs. He's averaged 23.44 FanDuel points per game over his past six on the strength of 65.67 rushing yards per game. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers rank 25th against the pass since Week 8 and 28th on the full season, based on our metrics, so Newton could finally add a big passing game to his game log. Tampa's in ability to generate pressure (they're last in adjusted sack rate) is another added bonus for Newton.
Philip Rivers ($8,100) - The New York Jets are eliminated from the playoffs, and the Los Angeles Chargers need to win. Rivers struggled last week on Saturday night, but the Jets are a funnel defense, ranking 2nd against the rush since Week 8 and 20th against the pass. Rivers' pass offense ranks 3rd since Week 8 by our metrics (during which he's averaged 17.58 FanDuel points), so he can take advantage in this bounceback spot.
Jared Goff ($7,700) - Despite sitting 10-4, the Los Angeles Rams don't yet have a playoff berth locked up, and with the Tennessee Titans sitting inside the playoffs now at 8-6, this game should be somewhat close. What matters most is that the Titans are a bottom-eight pass defense both on the full season and since Week 8. The Rams are top 10 in both splits. Goff has averaged 22.61 FanDuel points against bottom-half pass defenses this season.
