FanDuel Single-Game Daily Fantasy Football Helper: Week 8 Sunday Night
Week 8's Sunday Night Football clash features an exciting showdown between the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs. Following the main slate of action, fantasy enthusiasts can stay involved throughout the night by playing in FanDuel's Sunday night's single-game contests.
For those unfamiliar, single-game slates feature five flex spots with identical scoring to the main slate. However, kickers are included in these contests and there is an "MVP" roster slot. The MVP receives 1.5-times his total fantasy points, making this spot crucial.
Bookmakers currently peg the Packers as 5.0-point favorites with a 47.5-point over/under. With a projected high-scoring affair in store, here are the notable matchups to target on this slate.
MVP Considerations
Aaron Rodgers ($16,000) - With quarterback carrying elevated importance on single-game slates and Patrick Mahomes sidelined, Aaron Rodgers remains a cut above Matt Moore. Showing vintage poise, Rodgers diced up the Oakland Raiders last week for 429 yards and five passing scores. This week, Rodgers faces a Chiefs' defense that ranks fifth in pass defense, according to our schedule-adjusted metrics. However, the Chiefs already ruled out pass rushers Frank Clark and Chris Jones, along with cover corner Kendall Fuller. Potentially finding more openings in a shorthanded KC defense, Rodgers is a solid MVP pick.
Tyreek Hill ($13,500) - Even without Mahomes, Tyreek Hill's skillset keeps him in play every week. On just five targets last week, Hill recorded 74 receiving yards, including a long touchdown. The Packers rank fourth in pass defense, according to our metrics. However, they just allowed Derek Carr and Matthew Stafford to each eclipse 265 passing yards. At the very least, Hill's game-breaking ability requires that he's on the radar in any single-game slate.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling ($12,000) - Another week removed from injury, Marquez Valdes-Scantling projects to play an elevated role for the Packers this week. MVS played on only 33 percent of Green Bay's snaps last week. Even so, he managed 133 receiving yards and a score on just three targets. Valdes-Scantling ranks second on the Packers in targets per game (5.4) and is a cheaper MVP option in what should be a fairly high-scoring environment.
Value Plays
Jamaal Williams ($9,000) - Looking at the Packers' backfield, Jamaal Williams comes into Week 8 significantly cheaper than Aaron Jones. However, the pair has split backfield work almost down the middle this year. Last week, Jones played 57 percent of Green Bay's snaps while Williams played 40 percent. Jones out-carried Williams 12-3, but Williams was active in the pass game with four targets. Playing an elevated role in competitive games, Williams should benefit from a spread favoring the Packers.
Sammy Watkins ($8,000) - Coming off a multi-week hamstring injury, Sammy Watkins looks ready to return to game action. Prior to the injury, Watkins led the Chiefs with 9.5 targets per game, and he enters Week 8 with a depressed price tag. While Moore's presence downgrades Watkins slightly, the oft-injured Chief still leads the team in yards after catch (207). Simply getting the ball into Watkins' hands could lead to a big play and pay off for DFS purposes.
Allen Lazard ($8,000) - Undrafted out of Iowa State, Allen Lazard stepped up to play 85 percent of Green Bay's snaps last week. On those snaps, Lazard hauled in three catches for 42 yards on four targets. Despite the limited production, Lazard looks likely to remain in the lineup with Davante Adams set to miss another week. At just $8,000, Lazard presents a cheap attachment to Rodgers.
