10 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets Heading Into Week 10

We now find ourselves in the portion of the season where we can't expect to find much left of the waiver wire. In that sense, we're lucky to find one relatively high-level pickup available.

I'll stick to players rostered on 60% or fewer of Yahoo teams and also list some other viable pickups who may be available in shallower leagues or relevant in only deeper leagues.

Quarterbacks

Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears

Roster Percentage: 1%

With another lackluster performance by Nick Foles, Mitchell Trubisky is nearing reinstallation as the Chicago Bears' starting quarterback. Of course, Trubisky isn't likely to improve the Bears by much if at all, but for fantasy purposes, he does at least provide the Konami code. I don't have anything else nice to say about Trubisky, but we've seen him be a reasonable fantasy option in the past.

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Roster Percentage: 1%

At the point where you find yourself matched up against Ben DiNucci and not playing significantly better than him, it raises questions about how much longer you'll remain the starter. Carson Wentz could be at that point, regardless of how highly he's paid. In the unlikely event that he becomes the starter, Jalen Hurts would be the answer at fantasy quarterback. His rushing upside is obvious and his passing accomplishments at Alabama and Oklahoma shouldn't be forgotten either.

Daniel Jones (30%)

Running Backs

Duke Johnson, Houston Texans

Roster Percentage: 15%

When David Johnson exited Sunday's game with a concussion, Duke Johnson saw every subsequent running back touch. That likely won't be the case if David Johnson sits next week, but Duke Johnson won't face the same Carlos Hyde problem he faced last year. He'll be the guy. Paired with one of the league's best quarterbacks, Duke Johnson is a premiere add and at least a top 20 option in David Johnson's absence.

Wayne Gallman, New York Giants

Roster Percentage: 23%

Wayne Gallman has always been the guy who comes to mind when I hear the word "replacement level", but hey, he's getting touches -- 15 touches on Sunday to be exact. So at this point, that probably justifies an add, even in an uninspiring offense. Speaking of...

Kalen Ballage, Los Angeles Chargers

Roster Percentage: 1%

This is how deep the thirst for touches goes. I'm willing to entertain arguably the worst running back in league history. If Justin Jackson's injury is serious, look for Joshua Kelley to reemerge, but technically Kalen Ballage was running ahead of Kelley. I mean, Ballage isn't a priority add or anything, but if you've got a vacant roster spot you can look to add him.

DeAndre Washington, Miami Dolphins

DeAndre Washington was a sneaky trade deadline acquisition by the Miami Dolphins. He's good in all aspects of the game (rushing, receiving, pass-blocking) and has the best combination of athleticism and size on the team. With both Myles Gaskin and Matt Breida down due to injuries, the Dolphins are desperate at running back.

Others to Consider:
Brian Hill (13%), Rashaad Penny (3%), Gus Edwards (37%)

Wide Receivers

Tim Patrick, Denver Broncos

Roster Percentage: 21%

Tim Patrick has been not quite a one-to-one replacement for Courtland Sutton, but close enough that he's good for sporadic fantasy production. High volume X-receivers aren't usually available on the waiver wire. He had 9 targets on Sunday versus the Atlanta Falcons, which were the third-most on the team. He brought those 9 targets in for only 2 receptions and 29 yards, but was able to find the end zone on one of those two catches.

Bryan Edwards, Las Vegas Raiders

Roster Percentage: 2%

Sunday's return wasn't exactly a resounding success, but this is still the guy who broke out as a 17-year-old in the SEC. Edwards earned a starting spot on the Las Vegas Raiders this season and was able to draw rave reviews at the beginning of the year. The upside is still there.

Jalen Reagor (26%), Denzel Mims (6%)

Tight Ends

Zach Ertz/Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles

Roster Percentage: 55%

Sometimes good roster management is about swooping back in to pick up a player who was dropped. That's the case with both of these Philadelphia Eagles' tight ends, each sitting on 55% of Yahoo rosters. With the position getting more and more difficult to fill, both of these players should be on many more rosters.
