3 Fantasy Football Quarterback Streaming Options for Week 13

Quarterback streaming isn't for everyone, but if you're in a standard league -- like a 10- or 12-team league that features just one starting signal caller -- grabbing potentially productive quarterbacks in good matchups off the waiver wire is often doable.

Sure, you won't have the luxury of setting it and forgetting it with Russell Wilson as your quarterback, but when the top-end signal-callers draw a tough matchup, their upside can oftentimes be matched by a waiver-wire option in a more favorable situation.

If you're looking for some quarterback options from the waiver wire -- regardless of league size -- we have you covered. Here are three quarterbacks rostered in fewer than roughly 40% of Yahoo leagues who are in good spots this week.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Dolphins

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 20%

As of Tuesday, it's not 100% that Ryan Fitzpatrick starts this week, but if Tua Tagovailoa sits once again, Fitzpatrick is a slam-dunk streaming option.

The Miami Dolphins are at home against the Cincinnati Bengals, a team that entered Week 12 with the eighth-worst pass D and fifth-worst overall defense, per our schedule-adjusted numbers. (We don't yet have numbers through Week 12 due to the postponed Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers game.) Against Cincy a year ago, Fitzpatrick went for 419 passing yards and four scores.

After a horrible season opener this year at the New England Patriots, Fitz has been balling. Here are his fantasy outputs in games he's started, beginning with Week 2: 24.32, 24.20, 21.30, 27.60, 16.04, and 19.28.

We may have to wait until later in the week for some clarity on Miami's quarterback situation, but luckily for us, most fantasy platforms are running waivers later than usual this week due to the Ravens-Steelers game being on Wednesday. If Fitzpatrick starts, he's a fantastic streaming option.

Kirk Cousins, Vikings

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 40%

If Fitzpatrick heads back to the bench, Kirk Cousins is a great fall-back play. Normally scoffed at in fantasy circles, Cousins has quietly been a solid option of late, averaging 21.88 fantasy points per game over his last four. In that span, he's gone for at least 17.58 points in every outing and has totaled 11 passing tuddies.

In Week 13, Minnesota Vikings are 9.5-point home favorites over the Jacksonville Jaguars in a game with a 51.5-point total. That gives Minnesota a juicy 30.50-point implied total.

The worry with Cousins is always the same -- the Minnesota Vikings' love of running the ball. Dalvin Cook may very well go nuclear on the Jags. But the hope when using Cousins is that the passing game gets the touchdowns, which is what has happened in recent weeks.

Cousins doesn't have the ceiling Fitzpatrick does, but he's a really solid play in a game in which Minnesota carries one of Week 13's top implied totals.

Philip Rivers, Colts

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 33%

Speaking of appealing implied totals, Philip Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts are in a great spot as a 3.0-point road favorite over the Houston Texans in a game with a 52.0-point total, implying 27.50 points for Indianapolis.

While we shouldn't read too much into the performance of the Colts' D in Week 12, when they were all sorts of short-handed, Indy has now given up 57 points across the past two weeks. Amazingly, Indy has played only two offenses -- the Titans (twice) and the Green Bay Packers -- with a top-16 passing attack, according to our numbers. In those games, all of which have come in the last three weeks, the Colts have surrendered 17, 31, and 45 points.

The Colts' defense gets another tough matchup this week as Deshaun Watson is piloting what our metrics rank as the league's fifth-best passing offense -- and that number won't fall at all after what Watson did to the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.

Why am I talking so much about the Colts' defense? It has a direct impact on Rivers' volume, giving him a fantasy floor we can stomach. Rivers has attempted 39, 36, and 42 passes in the past three games. He had thrown 36 or more passes in a game only twice in the Colts' first seven games before doing it in three straight weeks.

To make things even better, Houston boasts the fifth-worst pass D by our metrics.

All in all, Rivers is a decent streaming option in Week 13 thanks to his matchup and the fantasy-friendly game environment.
