D'Wayne Eskridge to the Seahawks: Will Eskridge Be Relevant in Fantasy Football as a Rookie?

Eskridge is an older prospect who goes to a Seattle offense that already has two quality wideouts. Is there a path to fantasy-football relevance for him in 2021?

Wideout D'Wayne Eskridge came off the board 56th overall Friday to the Seattle Seahawks.

Eskridge's college production metrics are pretty strong as he rates in at least the 89th percentile in all of college dominator rating, college target share and college yards per reception, per PlayerProfiler. The big negative with him, however, is his age as Eskridge is already 24 years old.

What should we expect from him with Seattle?

Player Comparisons

Brandon Gdula's draft database has found these 10 prior prospects to have the most similar statistical profiles to Eskridge. Keep in mind that these are based not on play style or traits but age, athleticism, draft equity, experience, efficiency, and production.

Gdula's Take: Eskridge is already 24 years old, and older prospects should be producing against younger athletes in college. Eskridge did that and led the nation in yards after the catch per reception, via PFF, and has 99th-percentile efficiency in my model. It's a bit of a rare combination, which leads to spotty profile comps.

Eskridge's 2021 Fantasy Football Projection

It never hurts a receiver's fantasy stock to get paired with a quarterback the caliber of Russell Wilson, but Seattle's low-volume passing game will likely continue to run through D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett in 2021.

Zachariason's initial 17-game projections for Eskridge include 35 receptions, 466 yards and 3.9 tuddies, making him the PPR WR86 for the 2021 campaign.

On FanDuel Sportsbook, the Seahawks are listed at +2300 to win the Super Bowl and +290 to win the stout NFC West, and they have a win total projection of 9.5 on FOX Bet.
